Black Buck Hunting Texas StyleSuccessful Blackbuck HuntsReturning from black buck hunting in Texas, Harvey couldn't stop talking. "It was awesome. 2500 rugged acres. Scrub brush and trees to tromp around in. Or like we did, sitting in a tree stand waiting for the black bucks to come to us. One trophy level animal after another."
Plus it's a way for trophy seekers to shoot something exotic without the time and expense of international travel. Not to mention loss of habitat or poaching can make some species endangered. To the point they can't be hunted in their native habitat even if you could get there. What with hundreds if not thousands of acres to roam, the animals have plenty of places to hide from hunters. Making this type of hunt every bit as challenging as hunting in the bush. In a controlled environment even young hunters have a better than average chance of success with blackbuck hunts like these. It's interesting to note that by one report Texas is home to more exotics, like blackbucks, than anywhere else in North America. Concentrated mostly in the Hill Country there are over 600 ranches raising at least one exotic species.
