"Basically", Henry said, "what they did is packed us and our gear in and out of the wilderness. Nothing fancy gear wise. Just a tent, food, and your basic camping gear! and you're on your own. No guides." "We got maps showing where the mountain meadows, springs, wallows plus likely elk bedding spots were. It was a well timbered area with some sagebrush. All of which provided great elk habitat." |
Holbrook added, "And the bull elk were bugling. If you've never heard that it's truly amazing. Even if I didn't get an elk, I'd have been happy just to be out in the wilderness like that with my buddies."
"Weather-wise we had warmer days and cooler nights. Nothing too dramatic."
Not for everyone, a Colorado elk hunt drop camp is for more experienced hunters. You should be able to put one of these hunting adventures together for $1000-$1500 or so. You'll need elk tags although Colorado offers cow tags for less money.
