Seasonal Lake Huron WalleyeIn a perfect world we would all haul in our fair share of Lake Huron walleye whenever we wanted to.
So start with those color choices and experiment from there. Fall is a great opportunity to boat big fish from Saginaw Bay as the walleyes follow the shad run in. With the best fishing at the 3 or 4 foot depths after dark. While early April to late May also happens to be another good time to be on the big water as it coincides with the end of the spring spawn. Again fishing the shallower depths. Regardless what the calendar says, you've still got to get to the most appropriate seasonal habitat, pick a jig and fish it. Perhaps using trolling or drifting to find where the fish are. As that is a common strategy regardless of season. With nighttime angling often producing the best results. Just remember, don't stick with what you think the fish should be striking if they aren't. It's not what you want to fish with that counts. Rather it's what presentation attracts the fish that does. This approach will give you success with Lake Huron walleye regardless of the season.
