South Texas Trophy WhitetailsWhen Skip Blair heads into the woods don't be surprised if you hear he brought down one of those South Texas trophy whitetails.
"But," Skip goes on to say, "if you want to take one of the Texas trophy whitetails you've got to be patient. The old hunters creed "walk little watch a lot" applies. And don't just take the first young buck you see. Wait it out and you might get you a 'career deer' this year." Blair's right. Even though rain in October means parts of South Texas will green up, movement of the South Texas whitetails should be decent. So the average hunter, is likely to get more looks at mature 5 to 6 year-old deer. "And don't forget deer are generally more active early and late in the day." Skip added. "Southern Texas has been the traditional stronghold of the big bucks. More than a few monster deer are taken there each season So if you're looking for trophy whitetails, South Texas may be the place to be."
