South Dakota Phesant HuntingPheasant Hunting SD ReportSouth Dakota is one pheasant hot spot. Hunters harvest more birds there than any other state.
When the stars align and all that happens it sets the stage for ring tail hunting at it's best. Now the best counties for phesant hunting in South Dakota include Lyman, Tripp, Brown, Spink among others. The season generally runs from mid October into January. You want to check but three roosters is a common daily limit in the state. Pheasant hunting licenses are good for 10 straight days or two five day periods. Pheasant hunting tip: When in the field it pays to keep the sun at your back. Given their poor sense of smell wind direction isn't as critical when hunting ring_necks. But it's easier to see and shoot the birds if the sun is behind you. Remember most South Dakota phesant hunting will require a lot of walking. Don't wait until you're in the field to decide to get into better shape. It's too late then.
