Wyoming Trout Fishing
Streams, Rivers or Lakes

Planning a fishing trip to get in a little Wyoming trout fishing? For best results you'll need the right equipment.

For instance say you're heading to Jackson Hole. You're in for an experience that will be made all the more memorable with the right equipment.

Or you can fish the Snake River or any of its tributaries.

When fishing on the actual Snake River you'll probably want 5-weight or 6-weight lines/reels/rods.

In this case you'll most likely find a 9 foot rod is a good choice since many prefer longer rods when river fly fishing.

While fishing on one if the Snake River tributaries requires lighter tackle along with 4-and 5-weight rods. Although 81/2 to 9' rods are still a good choice.

You will be able to use shorter and stouter leaders while enjoying Wyoming trout fishing whether you are fishing on the Snake River or one of its tributaries. Try 7 1/2, 3 and 4X leaders.

Or you may choose to go fishing on one of Wyoming's many pristine lakes. Which would call for different gear than when river fishing. You'll want to to with a 9 foot rod. You know? something in the 5, 6, or 7-weight range. It's best to use the mandatory floating line and intermediate full-sink lines.

Another must have is waders. They are a good idea early and late in the season.

Of course you may want to skip the waders when it's really hot. And naturally in some cases when trout fishing in Wyoming, hip waders are just fine. Yet at other times you may want to use chest waders.

Wyoming trout fishing; make sure you have fun by taking the right equipment for what you're fishing!
